The Ethics of War: From the Prophet’s Command to Hiroshima and Nagasaki (25th March, 2018)

Epigraph: "Whoever kills a soul unless for a crime or corruption in the land—it is as if he has slain all of humanity." — Qur’an 5:32

In war, non-combatants are to be left alone. Buildings, animals, crops, trees, old men and women, young men, and women. God does not sanction what modern warfare coldly calls "collateral damage." Every life is sacred, and no innocent soul is expendable.

The prophet of God in the Arabian Peninsula, over 1500 years ago, directed this to his men: You fight only the combatants when attacked upon.

"Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors."

— Qur’an 2:190

You do not bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
